Mole Removal Treatment
What is a mole (Nevus)?

Moles are called nevus in Latin; They are benign formations that can be seen anywhere on the body, often brown, oval or round. It originates from cells called melanocytes, which produce the pigment that gives the skin its color. The moles that will form on a person are probably genetically determined in advance. While some moles are present at birth, some appear especially during youth. But in a genetically predisposed person, new moles may form throughout life.

Treatment
Moles usually do not harm health. Only if a mole undergoes a rapid change in shape, color or size, bleeds, itches or hurts, it may cause a health problem due to the possibility of melanoma. In this case, excision (removal) of the mole may be necessary. The mole must then be sent for pathological (microscopic) evaluation.

Mole removal (partial or complete) does not cause cancer. On the contrary, there is a chance of early diagnosis. The commonly known and believed saying "If a scalpel touches, cancer will occur" is not true. Sometimes moles may be requested to be removed because they spoil people's appearance.

Methods such as laser, electrocauterization (burning) or cryotherapy (freezing) should not be used in mole treatment. Moles in the beard area can sometimes be accidentally cut while shaving. This situation does not pose an additional risk of cancer for the mole, but moles in such locations may still be required to be removed due to the discomfort they cause. Sometimes, excision may be required just because they are not preferred aesthetically.
