Chemical Peel
Chemical peeling is an application method that aims to create controlled damage to the skin at various depths by applying one or more chemical agents to the skin and to reveal a healthy skin. The aim of chemical peeling is to damage the skin layers to the desired depth and to treat various lesions by taking advantage of wound healing during regeneration.

Chemical Peeling Applications

Superficial Chemical Peeling
It is a peeling method made with fruit acids. Herbal peeling is made with glycolic acids obtained from sugar cane, lactic acids found in milk, etc. applicable. Their more commonly known names are alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs). Since these are very small molecules, they can easily pass through the epidermis (the top layer of the skin). However, they cannot pass into the dermis, which is the lower layer. They trigger the renewal of cells in the epidermis and increase their tolerance to external factors. Apart from cell renewal, it is also successful in the treatment of superficial spots of epidermal origin.

Another superficial peeling is the peeling done with salicylic acids (BHA). This substance affects the epidermis (the uppermost layer of the skin) more superficially. It is mostly preferred in the treatment of acne, black and white spots, and secondarily in the treatment of blemishes.
You can return to daily life immediately after the procedure.

Medium Depth Chemical Peeling
TCA - Trichloroacetic acid (10% - 35%) and glycolic acids are made. By causing damage to the deep layer of the dermis where sweat glands, sebaceous glands and hair follicles are located, it is used to correct pigment changes, the effects of photoaging, including the treatment of mild to moderate wrinkles, and also to correct the effects of photoaging, which is a pre-cancerous disease that occurs on sun-exposed skin, especially on the face, hands, forearm and neck. It is an effective method in the treatment of actinic keratosis, a skin disease.

After the procedure, the face turns red. Then the skin color darkens to brown and the skin begins to shed within 2-3 days. The healing process takes approximately 1 week. To speed up the healing process, the skin should be kept clean and a moisturizing pomade should be applied after washing several times a day.

Deep Chemical Peeling
It is a peeling method performed with TCA (50%), Bakers, Phenol and Jessner's solutions. Serious peeling is taking place. It is very effective in treating acne and acne scars, scars, skin blemishes and wrinkles. Since it is a painful procedure, it is performed under local anesthesia. The process after the procedure is quite painful. Regular painkillers should be used. Swelling is observed on the face, lasting for 1 to 2 weeks. There is a healing process of approximately 1 month and it may take up to 3 months for the rash to heal completely. It is much more effective than other chemical peeling methods and its effect lasts for a long time. It is a more suitable peeling method for individuals with light-colored skin due to the possibility of permanent discoloration in dark-skinned people.

Conditions That Should Be Examined Before Chemical Peeling
Active infection and open wounds
Active herpes virus infection
Medium or deep peeling in the last 3-12 months
Recent facial surgery
History of abnormal scar formation, keloids, and delayed wound healing
Radiotherapy history
Fitzpatrick skin type IV, V, VI
For salicylic acid peeling If you are allergic to aspirin
Use of anticoagulants
heavy smoking
Pregnancy/breastfeeding
Risk of exposure to intense sunlight
Previous surgical interventions (must wait at least 6 months)

Chemical Peeling Session Duration and Number of Sessions
Sessions last approximately 30 - 60 minutes, depending on the size of the area to be treated. continues.

Although the number of sessions varies from person to person, case and type of application, the average is;
For superficial peeling applications, 4 - 8 sessions at 2 - 4 week intervals,
For medium depth peeling applications, 2 - 4 sessions at 2 - 4 month intervals,
For deep peeling applications, one session is usually sufficient.
Warnings Before Chemical Peeling
Hair dye and perm should not be done at least 1 week before the chemical peeling procedure.
Spring and winter months should be chosen for treatment as much as possible.
Warnings After Chemical Peeling
Avoid exposure to direct sunlight and avoid solarium. This sensitivity should be applied for 6 months as much as possible. High factor sunscreens should be used during this period. Wearing a hat and glasses during the summer months is among the preventive measures.
You should not take a shower on the first day, and a warm shower should be preferred for 1 week.
There is no harm in applying make-up after 2-3 days. Lip and eye make-up can be applied.

Is chemical peeling a painful treatment?
In superficial and medium depth peeling applications, a mild to moderate burning sensation may occur on the skin during and after the treatment. Anesthetic creams can be used to reduce pain. Deep peeling is a painful skin peeling process. The treatment is applied under local anesthesia. After the treatment, anesthetic creams and painkillers should be used regularly.

Does chemical peeling have any side effects?
Skin redness and skin discoloration may occur.
In some cases, a peeling line may appear on the neck following tears.
